I second this request. They should be guests [if it's possible]

SacAnime Guests / Guest Request: The Voltron: Legendary Defender crew
« Last post by AisuZeilia on September 20, 2017, 05:49:08 PM »
I've been in this fandom for a while, and I reeeally wish I could see some of the Voltron VAs, such as Bex-Taylor Klaus, Josh Keaton, Jeremy Shada, A.J. LoCascio, etc. Would this be possible at all?

SacAnime Guests / Guest request: Troy Baker, Matt Mercer, and others
« Last post by elixing on September 19, 2017, 10:57:16 AM »
I know Matt Mercer has attended before and I didn't get a chance to see him; would love it this time around!

Ali Hillis and Roger Craig Smith were such darlings to guests this last time so I'd totally wait in line to see them both again. And Troy Baker...well, he's been on my wishlist forever.

Others of mention I'd be thrilled to see:
Liam O'brien
Sam Riegel
David Gallagher (Any of the KH team, honestly; especially with the uptick in interest since the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 3.)

Any of the VAs from Free! or Yuri!! On Ice would probably be big hits.

SacAnime Guests / Guests Request! Ashley Eckstein, Jeremy Jordan, and Jodi Benson
« Last post by DisneyGirl695 on September 18, 2017, 05:34:14 AM »
Hi there!!

I've noticed that you have had many Disney voice actors the past couple years. I would love to meet Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Barbie in Toy Story) and I'm sure others would too. I would also like to see Jeremy Jordan at SacAnime. He is currently the voice of Varain in the Tangled series, Winn Schot in the CW show Super Girl, and was Jack Kelly in the Broadway show Newsies.

My brother who is a huge Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebels fan would love if you brought Ashley Eckstein.

Thank you,
Arianna

Input and Suggestions / Indoor lines for autographs
« Last post by Gradyz033 on September 17, 2017, 06:31:48 PM »
Winter SacAnime is coming next year, and we need to stay warm.

We were lucky that we got the convention to ourselves this Summer. I'm glad we get to wait in line for autographs without getting sizzled out in the sun.

I hope we get to do this again and wait in line indoors. Just in case if the convention itself gets double-booked again, I was wondering if we can use the downstairs area to form autograph lines? It's the same area we waited last Winter when it rained.

During Winter SacAnime 2017, we were fortunate to wait in line for autographs downstairs from the balcony & rooms 202 - 204. I'm glad the staff decided to make use of the downstairs area to wait in line; because, in previous years nobody was really using that area.

For Winter SacAnime, waiting in line in the downstairs area was autograph session done right. I don't want to freeze to death or get rained on for couple of hours. Let's have an indoor area we can wait in line without dealing with Mother Nature.

Input and Suggestions / Re: Will SacAnime continue to grow/evolve?

This summer everyone had two choices.  San Francisco Comic Con or SacAnime.  Both were on the same weekend which I know cannibalized attendance at both.  At least Crunchyroll Expo had the foresight to check the calendar and not be in conflict with the other conventions.  SFCC and SA should have taken steps to avoid each other but they didn't so everyone had to make a choice.

I liked reading your perspective. On this particular point though, I will say that conventions don't usually get to pick any dates they want and are at the mercy of what the convention center offers them. Also, in an area like Northern California...there are so many events going on every week that it's nearly impossible to schedule something on a weekend that nothing else of interest to any of the attendees will be going on elsewhere. Choices happen.

It's my observation that SA staff don't check these boards any longer.  If you look over at the panels board, it's been overrun by spam and there is no moderator to clean it up.

As an industry professional, SacAnime is something that rates very low on my "professionalism score card".  I tried to work with them extensively in the past and staff simply does not reply to any messages.  In comparison, Anime Expo is great about returning messages ("A") and Cruchyroll Expo is pretty good ("B-").  SacAnime gets a "D-".  They'd get a "F" but Artist Alley does gets back to you.  Unfortunately SA AA staff can't do anything for professionals above the AA level.

I've since given up interest in working with SA.  If other professionals are receiving the same treatment then its likely SA will continue to have issues with trying to attract talent.

Given my past experiences with SA, it was easy to go with SFCC.

Other than a few hiccups, SFCC was very good to work with.  In an interesting turn of events, I had missed the panel deadline, but the Director of Programming gave me two panels to moderate when she heard that I would be available, with 320 seats for the first and 1,188 for the 2nd.  Turn outs were good and I had the pleasure of speaking with a Google executive after one panel about some future opportunities. That right there was professionally worth the whole weekend.

Flip to SA and all the panels I've submitted haven't received a second thought by staff.

I saw anime cosplay at SFCC like Naruto, One Punch Man, and Sword Art Online, so I know that SA is losing some of its attendance to SFCC.

As long as staff continues to do things they way they have, and treat professionals the way they do, SA will continue to be negatively impacted by that.

I may attend SA in the future from time to time as an attendee but it's no longer important to me as a professional.  There are better run operations with better opportunities out there.  Hopefully staff can make some major changes to the way they do business but knowing how things work I don't foresee that happening.  Fingers crossed though.

Wishing everyone the best!

Respectfully,
An Industry Creator

Cosplay Gatherings Discussion / Love Live! gathering for Winter Sacanime 2018
« Last post by World1 Level1 on September 10, 2017, 06:28:07 PM »
Hello everyone! I will be interested in hosting the Love Live! gathering for Winter Sacanime 2018. I hosted the gathering for Summer 2017, however, it was last minute and I didn't have a lot of time to get the word out. The turnout was still awesome and thanks for everyone who attended! As I did for the summer gathering, I will be including all 18 idols, including any side characters from the anime or from the LLSIF game. I hope everyone will be looking forward to attending!

Costume and Fashion Events / Cosplay masquerade Question
« Last post by Fangy on September 10, 2017, 08:53:40 AM »
Hello! Im thinking about entering into the Masquerade for the first time this winter. However, my question is, how much can be store bought for the cosplay? I have a character who would wear normal clothes (formal men's lants, vest, shirt, etc as well as a bolo tie) However, the resf of the cosplay would be hand made. Would this still be alright to enter in? The character is Elias Ainsworth from Ancient Magus Bride.

SacAnime Guests / Guest Suggestions: Musicians/Cover Artists!
« Last post by bowfanatic on September 09, 2017, 10:34:36 PM »
First off, I'd love if Mirei and Dancing Dolls came back to SacAnime! Their music is great and I loved watching them perform! Mirei's vocals are phenomenal and Dancing Dolls really live up to their group name. Plus, seeing them collab together during Winter 2017 was amazing! I also wanted to suggest Lizz Robinett (Nucl3arW3ss3l) and Adriana Figueroa (adrisaurus) as guests for a future SacAnime! They do covers on YT and they both cover lots of different series, from anime to cartoons to video games! They also have a few original songs. Plus, it would be cool if they performed at SacAnime too, if they wanted! c:
